Same-Day Glass Replacement in Central Florida: When to Call, What It Costs, and How We Get There Fast

May 29, 20268 min readBy Henderson Glass and Mirror

A broken pane of glass is an emergency. In Florida it’s often a security emergency, a weather emergency, and a comfort emergency all at once — AC pouring out, rain pouring in, and an opening anyone can walk through. Henderson’s Glass & Mirror runs a dedicated same-day glass replacement service across Central Florida. Here’s how it works.

What We Cover

  • Residential window glass — single, double, and storm-pane.
  • Sliding glass doors and patio doors.
  • French and entry door glass.
  • Storefront and commercial glass.
  • Shower door glass (cracked or shattered panels).
  • Tabletop and shelving glass.
  • Mirror replacement after damage.

The First Hour: What to Do Before We Arrive

If you’ve just discovered broken glass:

  1. Don’t touch the broken edges — tempered glass shards are blunt but laminated and annealed glass shards are sharp.
  2. Photograph the damage for insurance.
  3. Block off the area from kids, pets, and barefoot adults.
  4. Tarp or board the opening if rain is imminent — we can do this on arrival but earlier is better.
  5. Call us at (321) 443-8502 with the dimensions, glass type if known, and a photo if you can text it.

How “Same Day” Actually Works

Honest answer: same-day means within a few hours for most jobs in our service area, often within 90 minutes for emergencies in Orlando, Kissimmee, and Tampa. The variables:

  • Standard glass sizes we keep in stock — in your hands fast.
  • Custom or oversized panes may take 24–48 hours to fabricate; in those cases we board up the opening same-day and return for permanent install.
  • Insulated glass units (IGUs) are typically a 3–7 day fabrication; we secure the opening same-day.
  • Tempered glass over 1/4″ thick is custom-fabricated; same-day temporary, return for final.

Common Emergency Scenarios

Storm or Hurricane Damage

After a Florida storm we run a dedicated emergency response — impact-rated glass replacement, sliding-door re-glazing, storefront board-up. Insurance claims supported.

Break-In

We secure the opening immediately and replace with same-or-better glass. For high-target areas we recommend laminated glass on the replacement.

Sports / Accident Damage

Standard residential window or sliding door damage. Quick measurement, fast fabrication, often resolved within 24 hours.

Cracked Shower Door

A cracked tempered glass shower door cannot be safely used — it can fail catastrophically. We replace the panel; usually we can re-use existing hardware to keep cost down.

Storefront Smash

For commercial clients, we secure with plywood within hours and have most standard storefront glass ready inside 48 hours. Insurance documentation supported.

Pricing Transparency

Emergency pricing is honest pricing — we don’t inflate because the situation is urgent:

  • Standard residential window: $250–$600 installed.
  • Sliding door panel: $400–$1,200 depending on size.
  • Insulated double-pane: $400–$900 depending on size and coatings.
  • Shower door panel replacement: $400–$1,200.
  • Storefront single pane: Quoted per job; typically $500–$2,500 for in-stock sizes.
  • Emergency board-up only: $150–$400 depending on size and complexity.

If you’re filing insurance, we provide itemized invoices and photos for the claim.

Why Speed Matters in Florida

  • Weather: Afternoon storms develop fast. Open glass means water damage.
  • Security: An open window or door at night is a target.
  • AC efficiency: An open opening pours conditioned air; cooling bills spike.
  • Pets and kids: Broken glass is a real injury risk.
  • Insurance documentation: Faster repair means cleaner claim.

Service Area

Same-day emergency response is available across:

  • Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Lake counties (Central Florida) — typical 60–120 minute response.
  • Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties (Tampa Bay) — typical 90–180 minute response from Tampa-based crew.
  • Polk, Brevard, and adjacent counties — typical same-day, response time depends on call timing.

Beyond the Emergency

While we’re on site for the repair, we’ll often quote any other glass needs you’ve been putting off:
